
3rd July 2025 marks another history when Malaysia’s second Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), RAJA MUDA NALA was officially launched today in a ceremony steeped in naval tradition at Lumut Naval Shipyard (LUNAS).
The ceremony was graced by the presence of His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Alhaj, Sultan Selangor and the Naming and Launching of LCS 2 was officiated by Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, Tengku Permaisuri Selangor.
As Malaysia’s only shipyard with full capability to design and build guided missile warships, this ceremony marks another key milestone in the LCS Programme. It demonstrates the nation’s commitment to strengthening maritime sovereignty through the development of high-tech naval assets.
Present at the ceremony were:
• Deputy Minister of Defence, YB Adly Zahari, representing the Minister of Defence.
• Minister of Finance II and representative of LUNAS Shareholder, YB Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.
• Chief of Defence Forces, General Tan Sri Hj Mohd Nizam Jaffar
• Secretary General MINDEF, Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali.
• Chief of the Royal Malaysian Navy, Admiral Tan Sri (Dr.) Zulhelmy Ithnain.
• Chief of Air Force, General Dato’ Sri Haji Muhamad Norazlan Aris TUDM.
Their attendance reflects strong support for the continuation of the LCS Programme and confidence in Malaysia’s local defence industry.
His Royal Highness Sultan Selangor and Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Selangor were also given a private tour of LCS 1, witnessing firsthand the advanced systems and capabilities that reflect Malaysia’s growing expertise in naval shipbuilding.
The launch of RAJA MUDA NALA reaffirms LUNAS’s continued commitment to Defining Excellence under the leadership of LUNAS CEO, Ir. Azhar Jumaat.
