Lumut Naval Shipyard (LUNAS) hosted a delegation from Markas Selam dan Peperangan Periuk Api and representatives from Japan, including officials from the Shipbuilding Research Centre (SRC) of Japan on 3 June 2026.
The visit aimed to provide the delegation with an overview of LUNAS’s capabilities and facilities in support of future maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) requirements for a proposed diving vessel under the Malaysia–Japan Government-to-Government (G2G) collaboration.
The programme included a corporate briefing, engagement session and shipyard tour, allowing the delegation to gain further insight into LUNAS’s shipbuilding and ship repair capabilities.
The visit was attended by a delegation from Markas Selam dan Peperangan Periuk Api led by YBhg. First Admiral Ahmad Nazree bin Abu Hassan, Commander Diving and Mine Warfare, along with representatives from Japan, including Cdr. Ryosuke Yawata, Deputy Defence Attaché of Japan in Malaysia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. In total, 17 delegates participated in the visit, including five representatives from Japan.
The visit underscores the strong maritime and defence cooperation between Malaysia and Japan, while highlighting LUNAS’s readiness and commitment to supporting strategic national maritime and defence initiatives.
