Prime Minister Visit To LUNAS

YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, paid an official visit to Lumut Naval Shipyard (LUNAS) on 15th June 2025 to review the progress of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) project.

He was accompanied by YB Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, Minister of Finance II and LUNAS shareholder representative; Datuk Dr. Shahrazat Hj Ahmad, LUNAS Chairman; Dato’ Dr. Amiruddin Muhamed, LUNAS Board of Directors; Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican, Secretary General of Treasury MOF; YB Adly Zahari, Deputy Minister of Defence; General Tan Sri Haji Mohd Nizam Jaffar, Chief of Defence Forces; Admiral Tan Sri (Dr.) Zulhelmy Ithnain, Chief of Navy; YAB Dato’ Seri Haji Saarani Mohamad, Chief Minister of Perak and Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir, Minister of Higher Education.

The visit began with a comprehensive briefing on the corporate and LCS project status by LUNAS CEO, Ir. Azhar Jumaat; LUNAS LCS Project Director, Capt (R) Rosnizam Che Puteh and RMN LCS Project Director First Admiral Ir. Franklin Jayasekhar Joseph.

As the only shipbuilder in Malaysia with the capability to design and build missile-capable warships, LUNAS was honoured to present the ongoing progress of this strategic national asset. The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction and remarked that the project’s advancement reflects the government’s priority in strengthening national defence — a result of the MADANI Government’s commitment to good governance and transparency.
