Lumut Naval Shipyard (LUNAS) was honoured to welcome and provide an exclusive technical tour of the LCS1 for YBhg. Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican, Secretary General of Treasury, Ministry of Finance following the official visit by YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, earlier on 15 June 2025.

He was given a detailed briefing on the progress of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) project, a strategic defence initiative for the Royal Malaysian Navy by Captain (R) Rosnizam Che Puteh, LUNAS Project Director, and First Admiral Ir. Franklin Jayasekhar Joseph, RMN LCS Project Director.

His visit reflects the Ministry of Finance’s continued oversight and commitment to the successful delivery of this national asset, and reinforces the government’s confidence in LUNAS as a local AA shipyard entrusted with the LCS programme, which serves as a key catalyst for enhancing local shipbuilding capabilities, generating high-skilled employment, and strengthening long-term defence resilience.
