From the Straits to the Gulf, Lumut Naval Shipyard (LUNAS) is charting new waters in the international maritime arena. LUNAS participated in Malaysia’s Export Acceleration Mission(EAM) organised by MATRADE in conjunction with ADIPEC 2025 to explore and identify trade opportunities in the shipbuilding and ship repair (SBSR) sector within the UAE. The programme focused on facilitating business matching with UAE stakeholders, promoting Malaysian SBSR capabilities, strengthening Malaysia’s presence in the Middle East maritime market and integrating Malaysian companies into the global maritime supply chain.
During the week-long programme, LUNAS representatives visited MBK Shipyard, Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), Drydocks World Dubai and Albawardy Damen. The team also participated in ADIPEC 2025 and briefings on the UAE Green Maritime and Shipyard Program. These engagements provided valuable insights into industry trends, technological advancements and regulatory frameworks. The programme also created opportunities to establish new business connections, strengthen existing relationships and identify high-potential export opportunities in a market with strong demand and confidence in SBSR services.
The programme took place from 3 November to 6 November 2025 in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Representatives from LUNAS were YBhg. Admiral Tan Sri Mohd Reza Mohd Sany (Retired), Board Member; Ir. Azhar Jumaat, Chief Executive Officer; Puan Ilme Onn, Head of Corporate Strategy and Business Development and Musyrif Ashadi, Business Analyst, Corporate Strategy and Business Development Department.
